News From Mrs. Othmer

The New Year always brings new adventures! Elementary students are working very hard and are still earning those Titan tickets for simply doing what they need to do. In addition to that, they are striving to meet their AR goals. Teachers are seeing a tremendous amount of academic growth so we are very excited around here! For students that might be struggling, the New Year is a great time to push the reset button!  In my 25 years of education, we have never had to let school out for a wind warning. We are very grateful that everyone is safe and sound and that the damage was minimal.

“If you see something or hear something say something.” These words were actually first used by Homeland Security. We have adopted these words to use with students in terms of safety and security. These words were also often used by Mrs. Mezger as well. We have approached the one year anniversary of her passing, but continue to use her wise words and ways in supporting our kids.

Students are finally starting to see that we can’t get hung up on the, “I don’t want to be a snitch” mindset. The HTRS staff feels very strongly that ALL students should feel safe and supported while attending school, and we have to work together to make sure that is happening.

2022 will be a year filled with opportunities for all of us. My hope for all of us is to take advantage of those opportunities to make a difference and to be kind to one another!
